Waxing Prep:

  • Hair needs to be 1/4" or 6mm

  • Take a warm shower to prep the skin and gently exfoliate area to be waxed; if you don't have time to freshen up before your wax, wipes are always provided

  • Skip lotion and body oils before your appointment, it can interfere with hair removal

  • Take an aspirin (with your doctors okay!) about 30 minutes before your appointment

  • Drink water, as hydration is very important; when the skin is dehydrated, it causes tightness around the roots of hairs, which makes removal with wax more difficult

  • Avoid sun/tanning at least 24 -48 hours before or after your appointment

IMPORTANT! Avoid waxing when using the following medications. If you're unsure about a prescription medication interacting poorly with waxing, please talk to your prescribing doctor.

  • Accutane (Acne medication) – you must be off this medication treatment course a minimum of one (1) year prior to waxing

  • Adapalene (Acne medication)

  • Alustra (Retin A)

  • Avage (See Tazorac – Acne medication)

  • Avita (See Retin A)

  • Differin (Acne medication)

  • Isotretinoin (See Accutane)

  • Renova (See Retin A)

  • Retin A (Acne and Anti-aging medication)

  • Tazarac (Acne medication)

  • Tazarotene (See Tazorac)

  • Tretinoin (See Retin A)

  • Coumadin and Plavix (blood thinners)

After care:

  • Wear clean, loose clothing

  • Exfoliate your skin once or twice weekly to avoid ingrown hairs

  • Apply aloe or cortisone to the waxed area

  • Do not take hot baths, showers and avoid whirlpools, saunas and steam rooms for 24-48 hours

  • Avoid running, cycling, working out or hot yoga for 24-48 hours

  • If irritation or skin lifting occurred, keep skin moist with antibiotic ointment such as Neosporin to avoid infection or scabbing

  • Do not shave between appointments, it can take 4 waxing appointments every 4 weeks to get the growth cycle down for your most optimal wax

  • Moisturize skin daily and stay hydrated
